Three new Sony Xperia Z5 phones: Z5 Compact, Standard and Ultra/Premium

It's not just the new Sony Xperia Z5 we're excited to hear more about tomorrow: there are rumours are all over the web that the Xperia Z5 will come alongside compact and ultra or premium versions of the phone.

We've rounded up all the rumours on the forthcoming Sony Xperia phones in our article Sony Xperia Z5 UK release date, price and specification rumours, but to summarise it sounds as though the new Xperia Z5 is going to be the mother of all Sony phones and allow us to forgive the company for its somewhat disappointing Xperia Z3+ (or Xperia Z4 as it's known outside the UK).

The Sony Xperia Z5 is expected to come with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. A huge 4500mAh battery is expected to offer long runtime away from the mains, while the rumoured 23Mp Sony Exmor RS IMX230 camera could be the best phone we've seen yet on a smartphone. There could be a new fingerprint scanner, too.

The jury is still out on whether Sony will finally upgrade the Xperia Z-series to Quad-HD screens, although if an ultra version of the phone does materialise it's likely this is where we will see that upgrade. We've also heard whispers of a 4K screen, expected to come in at 5.5in. For the compact version we expect Sony to match the 4.6in screen of the Z3 Compact, while the Sony Xperia Z5 will likely have the same 5.2in screen as the Z3+. Also see: Best smartphones 2015.

Sony SmartBand 2

Sony recently announced its SmartBand 2 activity tracker, so it's more than likely that it will give us an opportunity to get hands-on with the device at IFA 2015. The SmartBand 2 is far more intelligent than its minimalistic design would imply, a smooth silicone strap with interchangeable bands. It builds in a heart-rate monitor, allowing it to help you keep healthy by monitoring your pulse and stress levels as well as daily activities, plus support for message and call notifications. Sony SmartWatch 4

This one's a bit of an outsider - Sony unveiled its stainless steel SmartWatch 3 at CES in January, so we think it too soon for the company to announce its predecessor. However, the original SmartWatch 3 actually materialised at IFA 2014, AND among the products teased on Sony's IFA 2015 landing page is a SmartWatch. The image here could well be a red herring, of course - we've not heard any credible rumours of a SmartWatch 4 just yet. Also see: Best smartwatches 2015.

New Bravia TVs

Another image on that IFA landing page is a TV, and that's not at all surprising. IFA is often used to demonstrate new Bravia TVs from Sony, and we know from the IFA Exhibitor list that Sony will have a Bravia stand at the event. In Hall 20 it will be showcasing the brand-new Bravia S90 4K TV, and talking about the growing choice in 4K content. Also see: 5 cheapest 4K TVs 2015.

Sony PlayStation 5

We're absolutely not expecting Sony to unveil a PlayStation 5 at IFA 2015. We're merely pointing out that there is an image of a PlayStation controller on the IFA landing page. Don't get your hopes up too much, guys.
